Macaroni and Cheese Primavera

1 1/2 cup whole wheat pasta

1 carrot cut in small chunks

2/3 - 1 package frozen broccoli

6 oz. sharp cheddar cheese, grated

1 Tablespoon butter or olive oil

1 oz. whole milk

salt, basil, garlic powder


Boil the pasta according to package directions.  While the pasta is boiling, cut up the carrot and simmer for 10 minutes in a small amount of water with the broccoli.  Also, shred the cheese while you wait.  When the vegetables and pasta are done, drain them and set aside.  In one of the warm pans put the oil or butter in the bottom along with the milk and a pinch of salt and a pinch of basil.  Add a heavy sprinkle of garlic powder, then the shredded cheese.  Add the warm pasta on top and stir until the cheese melts and makes a thick sauce.  You may have to briefly turn the burner on low to melt the cheese.  Enjoy!
